To blog or not to blog? That's the question. A simple blog feature is a firm part of Business Class since version 1.4. I added the feature after getting inspired by simple blogs from Hey and Framer.
And no, this addition wasn't just for the sake of having many features. I used it on every project since, be it Tube and Chill or PinnedJobs which is in its entirety a blog.
Still, I am rethinking this approach now. Most team will use external blogging software with more features and certainly not everyone wants to couple their application with a blog. And me? I started to work on a much more powerful blog engine myself.
I won't need this blog feature anymore and removing it will make the feature surface smaller which means more attention to things that do matter. And so here I am thinking that just showing how to build a little blog might work just as well.
Yes, deleting the blog was always easy, but as I mentioned in my previous post on what's next AI is changing how we build projects. Given a good prompt and set of conventions AI will build such a blog in no time.
I believe that going forward and making Business Class 3.0 the best ever Rails starter kit won't happen without rethinking every single feature, its existence and implementation. And so it might be time to say good buy to bundled blogs.
